World Record Attempt - Do the Flamingo!

Congratulations to all those who participated in the world record attempt. We officially broke the Guinness Book of World Record for the most people standing on one leg for more than two minutes. Officially 1,774 people were able to stand on one leg for two minutes. With your help we were able stand together as a community of survivors and loved ones affected by Breast Cancer, with a goal to help promote breast health and raise money to give women access to life saving mammograms. Thank you for your support.

Beyond yearly mammograms, Winter Park Memorial Hospital Outpatient and Women’s Center offers a wide array of breast services, including:

  • Diagnostic mammograms to review suspicious tissues found on screening mammograms.
  • Ultrasound to learn even more about a mass or lump found in a mammogram.
  • MRI scans, that are used in conjunction with mammograms, for women at high risk of developing breast cancer.
  • Positron Emission Mammography (PEM) to see cancer as small as a grain of rice. (Winter Park Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in the area to offer this technology)
  • Ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, to precisely obtain tissue samples.
  • Breast Imaging Coordinators to set up additional breast imaging services or procedures.

Winter Park 2013

Planning for Pink Out Winter Park 2013 has begun. Expect to see some of your favorite things from 2012 such as the outdoor pink ribbon banners, flamingos, educational events, and much more! In 2013, the hope is to reach even more people with the breast health message and encourage even more women to get their mammogram. We are open to new ideas and suggestions for improvement. Please email us any time with your thoughts, opportunity to partner, offers to volunteer and questions. We want to hear from you and look forward to another successful Pink Out Winter Park in September and October 2013.

Winter Park will go to the birds again in 2013 – flamingoes to be exact. Show your breast cancer support by pledging now to purchase your flamingo in September. For $10, we’ll give you one to keep for yourself and place in your yard and add another to the growing flocks around Winter Park, along with a name tag honoring a survivor or loved one affected by breast cancer.
